Back in 2012, Garden News was still a newspaper. Driftwood won the "Best Small Garden in the UK" competition out of over 1500 entries. After winning, I was invited to write a monthly piece about Driftwood in Garden News in their "Over The Fence" section. They are still being written to date, click here to read them all.

On the 15th November 2012 I received in the post the lovely engraved crystal vase, shown here, which is my fabulous trophy for winning the Garden News best small garden award for 2012! Thanks to all the team at Garden News!

On the 9th October 2012, I made the front page of Garden News
"Meet our Winner, see inside the best small garden in Britain"
The newspaper featured a fabulous 3 page spread about the garden, as the winner of the "Best Small Garden Award" for 2012.
Click on each of the pages below to get a clearer view of the journalists comments.
On the 18th September the results were published in the newspaper of all the award winners.

I was amazed to learn on September 10th that I was the winner of the Best Small Garden Award for 2012 and now await my trophy! There were hundreds of entries and 15 were selected to be judged and I was the lucky winner! The results were published in Garden News Magazine on 18th September and Driftwood will be featured in the magazine on the 9th October.

I decided to enter these competitions after seeing a tweet on twitter on 17th July. I quickly gathered together the pictures and plans I had already got to hand and submitted the 3 separate entries just in time for the closing date

The covering letters, plans and pictures I submitted for each catergory are shown below. The images had to be of the garden as it looked in the summer of 2012.

I was very surprised indeed to receive a letter from Garden News on the 24th July to learn that I had been shortlisted for a judges visit as a finalist in all three catergories! Amazing!

3 judges came and visited the garden on Thursday 2nd August and I now have to wait until early in September to hear if I have been successful in any or all of the catergories! Results should be published in Garden News on 11th September.
